G'day,

as usual, posting related to studies will be posted to weizhongstudyblog.blogspot.com

Well, let'me just make a quick review on the film "Phantom of the Opera" (2004) which I have watched yesterday.

SPOILER ALERT
Basically, there was this rumour of a phantom ghost that resides in the Paris Opera House (Gerard Butler) which from time to time extorts money from the Opera owner and sometimes makes blatant requests. However, he was attracted by the beautiful voice of Christine Daae (Emmy Rossum), and decided one day to lure Christine to his lair using his marvelous sounding voice. Raoul (Patrick Wilson), hears her voice and remembers her as his childhood lover. They began to got together and thus causes the Phantom to be angry. He then devises a plan to again, lure her, at her father's grave, however was stopped by Raoul. They got into a sword fight and Raoul won, and initially wanted to kill him, but was stopped by Christine. The Phantom got really humilated this time, and decides on a plan to really get back at them. After ruining the night's play, he sets the Opera on fire and kidnappes Christine. Raoul, however, managed to find her with the help of Madam Giry (Miranda Richardson). The Phantom then got a hold on Raoul, and threatens to kill him if she did not choose the Phantom. Christine kisses the Phantom, after seeing how desperate he is, and of course to save Raoul. The Phantom, overcomed by all that emotion, decides to let them go. The Phantom, was however, not found, but his mask was left in the theatre. Fast forward to year 1919, Christine is seen dead, at age 63, with Raoul placing a monkey musical box (that the Phantom owns) besides her tomestone. Besides the tomestone lies a rose with a black ribbon tied around it (a trademark of the Phantom) and an engagement ring.

Personal Comments : Well, I simply think the whole story is terrific, awsome, fabulous. If you're seeing this story for the first time, you'll like it. However, of course, a live musical performance would be a lot better. Personally, if you don't like long winded stories with musical performance in it, don't see it. Otherwise, it's really a good watch.

Now, referring to the story and not the film, it's a spifftastic plot. The Phantom, who was utterly disfigured was not loved by anyone, and did not experience this rich sensation of love before, thought that he finally found his true love - and the best thing is that, Christine wasn't scared of him, nor his looks. However, she left the Phantom to be with Raoul.

Christine, on the other hand, loved the Phantom, but was shocked at what he does, and is afraid of what he can do.

The fact that the Phantom still loved Christine (by placing the rose and the engagement ring beside her tomestone) meant that, undying love does exists. Also, the reverse method of telling the story works miracle, who'd ever thought that an old opera house actually lies a extraordinary love story. The image of the monkey musical box has been portrayed as such a strong image - was seen in both the beginning and the end of the film, and was used to connect the parts of the film together. And you can almost feel all that emotion in that box that the great Phantom once held (especially at the near-end of the film, whereby he holds this box and cries) when the aged Raoul held it.

And yes, for my score this time, I added in another section, "Songs and Musical Effects".

So, it's been quite a long time since I've last posted.

Right now I'm into playing the song "Music of the Night", Phantom of the Opera on the Piano.

It's easier compared to other songs, but yeah, I'm a complete novice so it might take a while.

The "O" level results for year 2008 is out, and those who got 5 distinction (again, congratulations). and above had their faces on the school website.

I'm aiming for 5 distinction, too, and if I successfully made it, my face will appear there too, forever, FOREVERRRR!

I heard Gerald Butler sang the song "Music of the Night" on the movie "Phantom of the Oprah" on YouTube that day, and it was SPECTACULAR, not even considering the fact that he only had 4 vocal lessons. Wow, great voice, nice range (at least larger than my tiny puny range).

I will talk (well, blog would be a better word) about it on my next post (perharps tomorrow).

Anyway, I updated my study blog, weizhongstudyblog.blogspot.com

Make sure you go visit!

Cya~!

Hey guys, it has been a really long time since I last posted. but well, no one ever see, so basically, here's what been going on.

School has started like 3 weeks ago and it has been increasingly tough (in terms of workload), and basically after school what I did was just to watch some YouTube videos, play my Piano, homeworks, revise.

There's this program in our school called Peer Tutoring whereby, basically, as the name suggests, we teach our weaker peers.

I think almost everyone in my class got selected as a tutor for at least 1 subject. Yours Truly has been selected as a tutor for 3 subjects - Mathematics, Biology and Principles of Accounting.

Good thing is that, I like being the more powerful one. Bad thing is that I have to teach other people, and this is when my selfish personality takes over.

Apart from all that, I'll be posting videos over the next few days. Be sure to expect my favourite Ellen DeGeneres videos, Whoopi Goldberg and perharps some other ones.

So, seeya~!

Heya, and welcome to another issue of "Life with Wei Zhong"!

Basically, today's peak point was that we went to the Hospice Care Association (HCA) to do our CIP, which is mainly interacting with some of the terminally ill patients (well, they're basically just elderlys).

First off, we got on to the "Pass the Baton" game, instructions are basically just to pass the "baton" around and whoever touches it last before the music stops (kinda like Musical Chairs) gets a punishment and tears off a piece of paper from our paper box AKA The Baton. And no, it's not empty inside. The box actually has 8 layers, containing an ornament in the box.

Second, we got off to prepare sandwich for them. well, basically we just do all the carrying and tidying up instead of the staffs there. I just idled around since there aren't really much to do.

Well, before all this, my plastic gloves tore, so I went to ask for a new one, and one of this staff here starts talking about why don't I tell my teacher not to do anything, blah, how uncompassionate I am... and so on. Of course, I was dumbfounded. And the natural thing anyone would do was to nod and shake their head. And so I did, and changed the gloves and went off. Then I realised something - she heard wrongly; she thought I was asking her if I could not do the activities since my gloves tore. Instead, what I said was to change a new one for my torn gloves. And naturally, being me, I was angry - but after so long. What the..?

Anyway, this trip was fun and yep, funny, the facilities were great there, too.

YATTA!

I SURVIVED THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL!

So right now, I'm trying to play "The Cider House Rules" theme song. Believe me, it's really hard trying to learn it just by looking at the fingerings on some YouTube videos, especially if you don't have the sheet music and can't play by ear.

As usual, I'm lovingg being a Sec4.

I have decided to take the course on Biomedical Science, under Cardiac.

I know that Singapore Polytechnic's Year 2 Biomedical Science gives you a chance to observe in a real hospital rather than reading a plain old boring textbook (?). I wonder if other polytechnics does that too...

Because I really like that. I mean, you really get to see the body parts for real, and you know... textbooks aren't reliable. Some confuses you, some are contradicting, while some are plain stupid. Anywayy,

I'm gonna work really hard on my languages. :)

watched "Ghost" (1990) a few days ago, a few times, and I'm still watching it. This movie has the potential to really shine. Some of the movies now compared with movies 20 years ago (eg, "Ghost", "Flashdance" and so on) really do suck.

Sypnosis :

Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) got killed by a thief, Willie Lopez (Rick Aviles). After which, he realises that he is no longer alive. However, he is still able to roam about as a free spirt. He follows Willy home and found out that he was working for someone else and his girlfriend, Molly Janson (Demi Moore) is in danger. Along the way, he met Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), a con-artist posing as a spiritual medium, who heard him speaking of what a joke she is (although she did not know she really did had the power to communicate with spirts). He slowly realises that his best friend, Carl Bruner (Tony Goldwyn) was the one who hired Willy Lopez to rob Sam in an attempt to get the password to succeed in a money laundering scheme.

My personal review : MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT.

I think that this movie is simply, without a doubt, amazing. This story takes Molly Janson through a very spiritual, and emotion journey, from her boyfriend's death to what seemed like a prank that reminded her constantly of her boyfriend's death (she didn't believe Oda Mae Brown at first). And even after she pulled herself together and believed her, she still have to face Carl Bruner, her best friend, who tries to get the password (supposingly in her apartment) from her, and even more danger that might lie ahead. At the end of the story, although she was able to finally see Sam, she was still unable to reunite with him, simply because he is already dead.

Hiya there!

I went to Singapore Polytechnic today and boy, I was impressed! We had the choice of either going to Ngee Ann Polytechnic or Singapore Polytechnic, and of course I chose the latter, since everyone has already been to Ngee Ann Polytechnic for projects, enrichments, that well, it starts to seem a little boring to me. The praises seems to just gradually fade away with each comment.

So well, it was huge (but I heard Ngee Ann Polytechnic was larger), and, I'm really impressed with their facilities, their friendliness. And of course, going there made me feel like "Hey, I'm a Sec 4 already!". Somewhat, I feel very much mature, (maybe it's because all of them are like adults there).

But yeahh, it has extremely nice exhibitions (especially the "Musical Robots").
So yeah, I'm exited to leave my secondary school (LOL!). This open house made me redecide my choice of going to JC (JCs are a lot smaller, and since they're like the "studying lot", I have this impression that they'll be like "Oh hi, welcome to ... ... oh what..? yeah yeah, welcome to xxx JC".)
But anyway, I really like to be part of the open house in Polytechnics, basically because it's like "Hey, I'm one of them, ask me if you have any questions!". It's like you have a sense of responsibilitiy, power.

But the chances of going to University from Polytechnics are slimmer, that, I'm afraid of.

Anyway, I need to complete AT LEAST 60 hours of CIP (I have done 25 hours over the past 3 years, and now I need to complete 35 hours more CIP in this one year, what a joke...) in order to -1 point in my "O" level results (the lesser you have, the better).

The maximum you can minus is 2, and 2 more if you are taking Higher Mother Tongue.

And I need to ask my teacher before I can attempt any external CIP (such as helping out in Libraries).

And plus, I have to cope with my lessons, CCA, enrichment programs (they usually have a lot, in an attempt to help you increase your CIP hours), peer tutoring, QAMS, D&D (a study camp, LOL). Wow, what a schedule.

Till I free myself from my busy studyweek~

Heyya,

the show "Are You Afraid of the Dark" didn't show on television today. It was replaced by a new show "Dark Oracle", also from Cookie Jar Productions (they have shows that never fails to surprise me, especially "Are You Afraid of the Dark") . The first episode was okay, well, at least enough to keep me continue watching.

Basically, this show is about a girl getting a strange comic book named "Dark Oracle" that seems to be able to predict what's going to happen. Something just like Deja Vu. But then, strange things keep happening and it can potentially change their life, well, unless they change it... somehow.

There's "Heroes" today, season finale. 11pm. Make sure you guys (well, those who are from Singapore, since date and timing is different) catch it.

Till then~!

Hi there, and welcome!

I'm really enthusatic about my "O" levels this upcoming year. Especially POA (Principles of Accounting). If you don't know what is it about, it's actually talking about, yeah, Accounting, how much gross/net profit you earn, depreciation, stock revalue, and recording of business transactions (Balance Sheet, Trading, Profit and Loss Account, Journals, T-ledger, ect.).

Anyway, I heard that this year's paper is very easy, and basically we have a thing here called the Bell Curve, meaning, the grade does not depend on a fixed value, instead, it depends on the performance of the participants.

For example, if many people got high marks for say, Mathematics, then the range for the grade "A1" (top grade) will slightly go to the right, which means, to get an A1, you'll have to score higher (perharps 80+) and vice versa for lower marks.

Apart from all that information, my intention to blog is actually to write down (well, type) how much I want to get top in POA (Yes, top in Singapore). Well, I know it's gonna be hard and everyone's going to say "You'll do fine. I believe so, Just relax." and in their hearts, they'll think, "Well, it's impossible. It's simple is impossible".

I beg to differ. Every year there is somebody getting top for each of the subject. So, is it really impossible to get top? Why can't that person be me? So, till then, I'll work hard and try to get what I have dreamed of. :)

And I hope that in this new year, you guys will, too, achieve what you've always dreamed of.

Song Lyrics
Chorus:

Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over,
And it seems as though the writings on the wall,
Superstar you finally made it,
But once your picture becomes tainted,
It's what they call,
The rise and fall

I always said that I was gonna make it,
Now it's plain for everyone to see,
But this game I'm in don't take no prisoners,
Just casualties,
I know that everything is gonna change,
Even the friends I knew before may go,
But this dream is the life I've been searching for,
Started believing that I was the greatest,
My life was never gonna be the same,
Cause with the money came a different status,
That's when things change,
Now I'm too concerned with all the things I own,
Blinded by all the pretty girls I see,
I'm beginning to lose my integrity

Go to Chorus

I never used to be a troublemaker,
Now I don't even wanna please the fans,
No autographs,
No interviews,
No pictures,
Endless demands,
Give into vices that was clearly wrong,
The type that seems to make me feel so right,
But some things you may find can take over your life,
Burnt all my bridges now I've run out of places,
And there's nowhere left for me to turn,
Been caught in comprimising situations,
I should have learnt,
From all those times I didn't walk away,
When I knew that it was best to go,
Is it too late to show you the shape of my heart,

Go to Chorus

Now I know,
I made mistakes,
Think I don't care,
But you don't realise what this means to me,
So let me have,
Just one more chance,
I'm not the man I used to be,
Used to be..

Go to Chorus
